Mountain Pointe effortlessly defeated Red Mountain 48-7 in the Arizona Division I quarterfinals. The Pride, ranked 1st in Arizona and 8th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings, went into the game with confidence against 9th seed Red Mountain.
Wasting no time in getting things started, quarterback Antonio Hinojosa threw two touchdowns early on to launch Mountain Pointe’s 21-point first quarter. After failing to score in the second quarter, the Pride added 21 third quarter points and six more in the fourth.
Hinojosa finished with eight completions on 11 attempts for 163 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those passes went to Jalen Brown for 99 yards and two scores.
While the offense continued to enforce their relentless attack, Mountain Pointe’s defense shut down Red Mountain. Mitchell Fraboni led the way with two sacks. After picking up a fumble forced by Fraboni, Trey Lauer returned the ball for a 28-yard defensive touchdown.
Mountain Pointe moves on to face Desert Ridge in the semifinal. The Jaguars, at 11-1, hold the 4th rank in Arizona and 3rd seed in the Division I bracket. The two teams square off on November 22.
